  • Bloc Digital - 3D Artist (2023 - Present)

    Since 2023, I have been working as a 3D Artist at Bloc Digital, a company specializing in creating marketing materials and digital solutions for industry. My role focuses on the creation of high-quality mechanical assets, including full jet engines, jet engine components, car engines, and electric motors. This has involved hard surface modeling, subdivision modeling, and interpreting complex CAD data to create models optimized for use in Unreal Engine 4/5, animations, and web deployment.

    I am also responsible for texturing, animation, photo scanning, and Unreal Engine blueprinting. In addition to working collaboratively with a small team, I engage directly with clients to ensure that their needs are met. My work consistently adheres to industry-leading standards, with a focus on photorealism and versatility, allowing models to be used across various platforms and applications.

    University

    During my time at Staffordshire University, I earned a First Class BA (Hons) in Virtual Reality Design, gaining skills that directly apply to industrial and creative 3D applications.

    • Year One: I studied VR Design for gaming and 3D modeling, developing foundational skills that transfer well to industry. I particularly enjoyed the process of creating set design pieces and building interactive virtual environments.

    • Year Two: My second year focused on business-oriented applications of VR, with extensive modules on Laser Scanning, Photogrammetry, and Architectural Visualization. These industrial processes sparked my interest in technical applications of 3D art.

    • Year Three: I combined my interests in motorsport and industry for my final year projects. I visited the Three Sisters Racetrack in Wigan to capture reference photos and high-resolution photogrammetry scans. Using these, I integrated Laser Scanning, Photogrammetry, and 3D modeling in Maya to create a virtual racetrack for Assetto Corsa using Unreal Engine.

      Additionally, I developed a VR Mechanical Repair Simulator, allowing users to interact with a virtual car to perform tasks such as changing wheels, replacing spark plugs, and refilling oil. This project heavily utilized Node Coding in Unreal Engine, a skill that has since proven invaluable in my professional work.

    Throughout my degree, I participated in team projects requiring collaborative planning, management, and execution, often under tight deadlines. These experiences strengthened my ability to work effectively within a team while delivering high-quality results.

    Completed work experience as part of a BTEC program. Tasks included modeling and animating in Autodesk 3DS Max and Adobe After Effects, such as creating Fruit Shoot bottle models and animating sequences like an X-Wing spaceship.
